Inspecting a Hive
It is important to inspect a hive regularly to make sure the bees are healthy, have enough food and enough room for the queen to lay her eggs. It is also important to make sure they are as strong as they should be at that time of year. Is the colony building up in size as fast as others in the apiary? The next thing a beekeeper looks for are signs that the bees are preparing to swarm, ie queen cells. Record Keeping is important so a Beekeeper knows what was seen and done the week/weeks prior to current inspection.
